Musical Loom

sheet music, a keyboard’s mother board, a sticker from the metallica tour, torn up images from the Metallica magazine in the box set, cassette tape, cut up CDs, other parts of the keyboard such as wiring and keys, wire

I wanted to make a loom portraying my love for rock music and its impact on my life, I decided to focus on the fashion influence of british rock musicians/bands in the mid to late 1900s / in british rock and roll many sub-genres were created, all which were based on the idea of anti-establishment, in their own specific ways / their music and fashion were a reaction to the times and they created societies within society / to me, rock music was about freedom in the songs they created or the clothes they wore; there were no rules / people were unbounded and had autonomy when it came to expression (at least to some extent) / I wanted to capture that idea of independence and creating with reckless abandon, something that I associate with rock music and myself
