The Unphotographed

this project is inspired by a quote from David Valesco, "some people are made to be photographed and some people are made to make photographs and sometimes, in rare alloys of kismet and appetite, both these destinies cohere in a single person. In the age of pictures, when many of us know the feeling of screens better than the feeling of another's skin, this is a power more special than the old god magics. can you imagine? Being both seducer and seduced, both means and production? each capture a closed circuit, a miraculous birth.”

this was a project, where like the quote, i wanted to bridge the gap between the photographer and the subject / I wanted the unseen to be seen, the unworthy to know they are worthy and the unloved to feel loved / I went to washington square park in nyc with a friend, who helped me out / we held a sign to find muses in the every-day people and they found muses around themselves / I then used the pictures I took and the pictures they took to photoshop to create double exposures / this project is up to interpretation and even though at times I questioned what it meant, it was more about the beautiful people I met, sharing our stories with each other and having fun

finally, the end product didn’t seem to matter any more.
